In 1787, he was appointed court chamber composer. Mozart’s compositions are hallmarked by their melodic, rhythmic, and dynamic contrasts.įollowing his break with the archbishop of Salzburg, Mozart moved to Vienna in 1781, where a year later he married singer Constanze Weber. He knew how to blend traditional and contemporary elements to create his own distinctive style, which is characterized by thematic and tonal variety, melded with a high degree of formal discipline. Mozart’s work, however, extended to all styles and types of music. He created twenty-four operas including such famous works as "The Magic Flute", "Don Giovanni", and "The Marriage of Figaro", 17 masses and over 50 symphonies. He was the son of Leopold Mozart, violin instructor, court composer and deputy music director at the court of the prince-archbishop of Salzburg, and Anna Maria, née Pertl. He made his first attempts at composition at the tender age of six. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on the 27 January 1756 in Salzburg and was already considered a genius as a child.

I can't say much else about either of them, but I enjoyed their work here. Gervasio is an Argentinian illustrator who belongs to a collective called La Productora. Weakland is a reading specialist, educational consultant, and pretty prolific writer of books for children. This book was made by writer Mark Weakland and artist Gervasio. For those looking for a quick introduction/refresher of basic scientific ideas, there are many worse places to look. Still, I found it breezy and fun to read. Probably the worst thing I can say about this book is that it is very short and not very detailed. Sure, zombie arms get pulled off, but there's no blood or gratuitous gore. Even though the subject matter is gruesome, it's in a fun, wholesome way that's not off-putting or too gross. And as you can see, the illustrations are great and very clear, as are the explanations of the science. Robert Ringer, author of To Be or Not to Be Intimidated? Every serious entrepreneur needs to avail himself of the information in this book." The number of successful businesses he's built is no less than astonishing. What sets Masterson apart from most of the gurus who write about how to do it is that he's actually done it - over. Every sentence in the book is on the mark -stuff you can use right now, today, to accelerate your climb to the top of the financial ladder. " Ready, Fire, Aim is vintage Michael Masterson. Bill Bonner, founder and President of Agora Inc. And you'll get some 'bulls' eye' insights about how to overcome them." you'll better understand the challenges you face. just starting out or already at the $50 million level. No matter where you are in your business career. Masterson describes the phases of a business in a very helpful and perceptive way. "Michael Masterson's Ready, Fire, Aim hits the mark-dead center. Joe Vitale, author of The Attractor Factor "Wow! A powerhouse book packed with tried and tested street-smart wisdom. B rian Tracy, author of The Way to Wealth "This is an extraordinary book-full of practiced, proven strategies and techniques to help you make more sales and great profits than you ever imagined possible." And so as Vaillant’s central subject prowls the pages as both protagonist and antagonist - one that hunts and is also hunted, at once both revered and vilified - the tiger serves as wrecking ball to our perceived dualities. Vaillant’s careful brushstrokes of this backdrop offer up a profoundly clear understanding of how the dualities of the world - the meek and the fierce, the predator and the prey, the haves and have-nots - are intricately, exquisitely bound to one another. It is credit to the animal that it has survived at all in a landscape bearing the fresh scars of political oppression and the resulting economic impoverishment - especially given the lust of the neighboring Chinese for Amur tigers’ parts, from penis to paw. Vaillant’s intimate portrait of this animal is one part deftly delivered, seamlessly amalgamated journalism to two parts brutally beautiful prose and storytelling prowess - and it renders in our imaginations a creature so calculatingly cunning (at the home of one victim, the big cat drags a mattress outside and lounges on it while waiting for its next victim to return home), and so powerful, it can take down the Russian brown bear, cousin to North America’s grizzly. JOHN VAILLANT’S TALE of a beast that methodically stalked, killed, and devoured a post-perestroika poacher in the southeast corner of Russia makes it clear why William Blake’s most widely anthologized poems pit God’s lamb not against a lion, but a tiger. That isn’t to say that science has everything figured out. I was originally concerned that his claims come from a desire to anthropomorphize what he doesn’t fully understand, but everything is backed by scientific data. Wohlleben’s book may read like a family drama, but it is firmly based in science. Small dramas play out in the natural cycle of death and rebirth, but overall the forest’s longevity can be attributed to the social network they have created. Left to their own devices, old-growth forests create their own ecologies and can withstand even the harshest weather fluctuations as long as they work together. These lines of communication allow trees to warn others of danger or lend their struggling neighbors extra nutrients and water. They form tight-knit communities that send electric signals through their extensively interwoven root systems and disperse scented pheromones into the air. Wohlleben paints a picture of dense forests where trees not only grow close to one another, but also actively communicate with each other. Who knew 500-year-old trees could be so entertaining? Wohlleben knew, and you will too. Peter Wohlleben, a former forester, describes the drama of centuries-old forests in a way that is both approachable and enjoyable. One thing is for sure: you will never look at trees the same way again after reading this book. Genres: Non-Fiction, Forestry, Ecology, Conservation The Hidden Life of Trees: What They Feel, How They Communicate: Discoveries from a Secret World, by Peter Wohlleben When he died on the battlefield of FEAR ITSELF, Bucky Barnes was still a wanted man. Thankfully he broke his conditioning and went on to sub for Steve Rogers as Captain America until being set up and exposed by Zemo for his Cold War crimes then sold out by elements in the US government to Russia. For many years Steve Rogers' best friend was thought dead, lost after a plane disaster in WWII, although in truth Barnes had been captured by the Russians, cryogenically frozen and brainwashed into becoming the Winter Soldier, their occasional stealth assassin during the Cold War. A joy.įollowing the catastrophic events in FEAR ITSELF, what's left of the world is mourning for Bucky Barnes who fell on the frontline. And as an espionage action-thriller co-starring Nick Fury, there are apposite explosions of Jim Steranko throughout - you really can't miss them. Rarely do I rave so vocally about the colouring in a Marvel comic but it's both brave and bold and works perfectly in what is essentially another espionage thriller by Brubaker who's going out with a bang at Marvel, on his fiercest form there since the first three years of CAPTAIN AMERICA itself. Like the weather itself - rain, sleet and snow at midnight - the colouring by Bettie Breitweiser is beautifully bleak: an erosion of Butch Guice's phenomenal form and action so frantic that it's like being tossed into the firefight yourself. No Just do me justice And make sure all the girls are cryin'." |
